s3k/emergent gathering.

it’s been the talk of emergent recently, the s3k/emergent gathering. for a couple of months it’s been talked about how jewish leaders and leaders/friends of emergent would be gathering together in a ground-breaking meeting to connect Jewish and Christian leaders who are experimenting with innovative congragations, trying to push beyond the traditional categories. i’ve heard people scream of emergent “syncretism”, or “you’re selling out and joining the gospel to secularism!” these are ridiculous claims, and couldn’t be further from the truth. i’ve been reading Ryan Bolger’s account of the “proceedings” and it has been nothing less than inspiring!

as i read through each of his accounts (he’ll finish up on monday) i was caught up with the idea that, “this is the gospel.” this is what it’s supposed to look like. talking and conversing freely and openly with people of other faiths about Jesus and God without any defensiveness or pretense. I was most inspired by Boger’s 3rd reflection. May God continue to bring about more of these types of meetings and conversations!
