with the return of superman to the silver screen of course it’s inevitable to ask the question of whether or not superman is gay, especially in our supercharged, sex-crazed culture, right? well, the advocate is certainly asking the question, but in a different way than you’d think. they’re attempting to take superman and not necessarily make him gay, but rather use his secret identity as a sort of parable on the "in the closet" lifestyle that most glbt people must live their lives. superman is becoming a superhero on a different level. abc news has picked up on this story offering up an interesting perspective, moving it past just a sexual orientation debate, but into the realm of religion. tonight nightline will be spending time on their show to this issue as well. this is a pretty interesting discussion and a really good example of how we are re-defining anything and everything that we want in our postmodern/post-christian culture and society.
