please vote.

this is a great ad run by one.org showing that many different people from many different backgrounds and mindsets (yes, even democrat and republican) are coming together to make a difference.  hopefully this will truly be a united front and not just a “show” and something remarkable will happen.  there’s another video of behind the scenes footage that shows democrat and republican strategists coming together, rick warren talking of the mission to the world (blessed to be a blessing) and don cheadle talking about the opportunity that we have as a country because of our great wealth.

Please don’t vote for anyone who runs on any campaign ideal other than “firing themselves.” The ultimate politician is the one who gets elected, fires everyone in their office, and then resigns.

I have a way for Christians to vote — the way I’d see Jesus Himself voting. I vote for the only person worth voting for [link].

Voting is against God — it takes one lazy person (the voter) and passes their responsibility to another person who is now endowed to use force and any means necessary to do what the lazy person didn’t want to do.

Jesus didn’t vote, Jesus didn’t use the State/government to do His plan — He did it Himself and he told all of us to do the same.

Problem is 10 years ago the UN and many countries around the world stood up and said their goal was to eliminate half of world hunger – problem is 10 years later it’s actually worse…

What bothers me the most about all these organizations lead by hollywood’s elite, and rich musicians, is they beg the common working man to give, give, give, yet they roll around in BMW’s, Land Rovers, Ferrari’s, etc have more houses than they know what to do with, etc. If the US’ top 1,000 money makers alone gave 20% a year poverty in this country alone would disappear in 5 years.

I am all for certain organizations, but when Clooney and others blame it all on Bush and people not giving, hey man why not give up a couple of your houses and give yourself!

but that’s the difference with one.org, they don’t ask for a dime. they ask for you to get involved in some way–like voting. that’s why “one” is such a different type of organization. it’s all about bringing awareness to the issue so that people will start to get involved in other ways–and some of those ways are helping out and getting involved in other organizations.

in fact, i’ve recently stumbled across an organization that i’m really excited about getting involved with kiva. it’s an organization that helps connect people with resources to those in third world countries that have an entreprenurial spirit and provide them with loans (some small some large) to help them get out of their poverty striken situation… it’s pretty neat.

the fact is, we can’t expect the governments of the world to do anything nor can we expect just the rich and elite to do it all. this is something that will require everyone to band together to do… and it’s got to be an ongoing practice so that we never find ourselves in this situation again as a global community.

I do agree it is up to everyone to pitch in and do what they can to help, but my point is, I’m pretty sick of seeing the Hollywood elite cry out for money, while they roll in their million dollar lifestyles. As Christians should lead by examples, so should those who run the charities…I wasn’t talking about One.org specifically.

i hear ya… i’m just not too concerned about the hypocrisy of those that don’t necessarily follow Jesus… but i can understand your frustration!
