love them canucks… eh?

after being snowed and iced in all day long I ventured out with Tracy tonight to survey some of the damage, check on my grandpa and head out to dinner with some ADM recruits.  i must say, the damage we had around us (a lot of downed branches from our trees that busted up our fence) didn’t even compare to some of the mass devastation seen all over decatur–we got off rather lucky.  in fact we have power, meaning heat and electricity, whereas much of decatur doesn’t.

tracy had a dinner tonight with some of the recruits that came into town from all over the country for a round of interviews and i was able to go with her tonight.  i sat across the table from greg, a canuck, and learned quite a bit about canada.  for some odd reason i’ve long had this fascination with the culture and people of canada.  (it may stem from the fact that when i was in high school i made a pact with myself that if there was ever a military draft instituted in the U.S. i would up and move to canada.)

we talked about the great sport of curling, the political landscape, and all sorts of different cultural differences–which aren’t many.  but the best part may have been the fact that i met a canadian that hates hockey just about as much as i do!  who knew they existed!
