well, unless illinois goes on a tremendous run to close out the season or they do a tremendous job in the conference tournament we can probably say “goodbye” to them making it into the big dance… i know today’s game was close, and wisconsin is ranked #3, but they lost at home and are now 2-4 in the conference. that isn’t going to get you anywhere.
good job illinois, you’re NIT bound.

I am resigned to this fact. After watching Illinois several times this year, they have been too injured and too inconsistent from 3 to really do any damage in the Big 10 this year. They have no go-to scoring threat which is killing them in close games. It’s OK though, with only a few exceptions like Duke or UNC, every program has to go through a little recycling every five years or so. The real test will come over the next several years to see if Weber can recruit as well as he can coach.
he can recruit… he just can’t keep those recruits when the likes of kelvin sampson comes along and swoops up the top recruit in the country that committed to illinois…
