british documentary film maker louis theroux of the bbc spent some time creating a documentary as he followed around the phelps family of the westboro “baptist” church trying to make sense of and understand just exactly what it is that they are all about and trying to accomplish… this is his story, and theirs.

i’ve been following this group in the news for several years now, and they just seem to keep on going, never going away. i wonder if they will continue on after the death of the older members—if the indoctrination and brainwashing of the young will have taken such deep root, or will it fall into oblivion? i hope for the latter, but i also hope more than anything that their hearts are changed—but according to them, i guess that makes me a “fag” lover.

I as well have been following this tragedy for about five years and I’m saddened by how much attention they get, i’m even more saddened by people equating Christians with this madness. I keep thinking they’ll fade away but it just seems like they are picking up speed. i’m honestly surprised no one has tried to blow up their building or kill someone in this group (although I guess someone did try to burn down their building). If I were them, I would be very afraid! If not of other people, then of God (but now I’m talking like one of them)!

    Painful.

It’s people like these that make me ashamed to be called a christian.
I have to commend the patience of the reporter guy though.
