the crosstown classic starts today as the cubs limp back home to wrigley after dropping 3 of 4 to the mets, 2 of 3 to the phillies, and 2 of 3 to the pirates. after a promising start to the month, the cubs bullpen is responsible for 9 of the last 11 losses… ouch.
the white sox, on the other hand, come in to wrigley after taking 2 of 3 from the yankees, 2 of 3 from the royals, 2 of 3 from the twins and 2 of 3 from the angels.
it’s going to be an interesting series—especially for the cubs, and especially if d.lee is still out—and could potentially shift the momentum for the cubs, or push them down the path to loserdom once again. i’m looking forward to the series (although i won’t be able to watch any of it—we’re going to a wedding out of town this weekend)… i guess there’s always the highlights.
i’m going to take the cubs in this one 2 of 3… why you may ask? the cubs are starting lilly, marquis and zambrano… and you can guarantee that the bullpen more than likely will not get used in 2 of the 3 games.

Maybe the soxs will get lucky and the cubs will put in their bullpin.
how bout them cardinals matt? they’re doing pretty well this year aren’t they? where’s all the trash talk now?
That is a ridiculous argument. But here is my winning statement. Cardinals World Series Champions 2006. The cubs spent a piss load of money to try to reach the place of the redbird and all it has gotten them is a below 500 record. So until they are in our league, be quiet.
One down!!!!!
and how are your beloved “champions” fairing this year? worse than the cubs… so, what league are you talking about? the sub .500 league? then we’re a little better than you.
well… maybe i was wrong… maybe the cubs aren’t going to win 2 of 3. can someone say, “SWEEP!”
jason, where are you at? you’ve been conspiculously absent on this thread!
Blah Blah Blah…as I always say come talk to me in August when you are guys are bottom dwellers again and we are still in the playoff race in a FAR superior league and the BEST division in baseball.
Whats it been months since we last won it all? You guys, isnt it centuries at this point?
Bottom line, the White Sox starters were flat out superior this weekend. If Ozzie would have stopped jacking around with the bullpen and should have put in Thornton on both days, then Jenks, it would have been a sweep for Sox. Wow you let freakin Nick Masset outduel the second coming of Cy Young himself in “I, Carlos Zambrano, going to win cy young this year” – going to be lucky to win 10.
i like how you had to wait to say something once the sox finally won a game.
season series:
cubs 2
sux 1
World Series in this lifetime:
Sox – 1, with a legit chance at more
Cubs – 0, with no chance in hell at even making a run
I wasnt online for once much this weekend and loved every minute of it….as I mentioned come talk to me in August when it matters.
i find it interesting that both cardinals fans and white sox fans who continually tell cubs fans to “stop living in the past” are so quick to revert back to the argument of what happened “last year” or “2 years” ago. so, maybe it’s time for cardinals fans and white sox fans to “stop living in the past” and deal with the present reality.
p.s. the white sox don’t have a legit chance this year. good luck with the twins, cleveland, and detroit.
we’ll take our chances with the brewers…. sounds like the cubs have more of a “legit” chance this year than the sux.
August, Monts, August…talk to me when it matters…I love the Cubs usual hope, wait for the teams in front of you to tank! Don’t hope your team becomes better…Sox are fine once this lousy bullpen stretch ends…starters are still one of the best 5-some in the league and bats are starting to heat up better. Best division in baseball hands down, we will prevail !!!
Sux are fine once this lousy bullpen stretch ends… one could say the same thing about the cubs… except the cubs actually have a chance of winning the cenral while the sux have none!
nice showing against the twins by the way… the sux will certainly make it out of the AL central with play like this!
6 games and counting under .500….but dont worry we’ll keep hoping the other teams suck worse than we do! $300M gets you what? That’s right another season of true SUCKdom in Cubdom.
