i’m back…

May 29th, 2007 § 4 comments

the week is over and i’m back in decatur for the next couple of weeks with nothing to do…

we’re currently residing in corporate housing for free (tracy’s company is putting us up until we finally move up to chicago on june 9th) however, there is no internet. so, i’m sitting in the local panera soaking up some free wi-fi while watching all the retired folk sit around their tables catching up on all the local gossip. (i find it amusing that it’s okay for them to laugh really loud while in conversation, talk at a high volume, and slap the table—but when a group of high school students, college students, or anyone else does the same thing, they give them the look of death and begin to talk about how “rude” they are.)

we had a good weekend down in grafton, illinois for the family reunion as we drove along the river, walked around the town and ate a ton of food—which i’m still digesting. we got everything moved into our storage locker in aurora on friday without any hitch whatsoever and we closed on our house. however, the closing didn’t go completely as planning—it was extremely stressful and very difficult. at one point i wasn’t sure if it was going to happen. i’ll write more about that later. thank you, however, for your prayers! without those i’m not sure we would have closed on the house… however, now we are “home-less” and couldn’t be happier!

we’ve gone through a lot of changes in the past week and i look forward to sharing them with you… but first i’ve got to catch up on some things!

I was praying for that closing. What are your plans now? What’s next?

we’re hanging around decatur for another week and a half in corporate housing, and then we move to aurora on june 9th. and then on the 10th, the journey with ccc and new thing begins! :) (finally!)

we’ll start travelling around in the coming month or two and choose our destination for planting a church! we’re pretty stoked, tired of waiting and ready to get out of decatur.

thank you so much for your prayers adam!

How’s the support-raising going? I’m finding it difficult to arrange time and contacts to gather support with my full-time work schedule. But then, if I don’t work, we don’t eat. I really wish I had prepared better the first time around to go to Brazil, rather than only having part of the support and rushing to get there. Now I’m in New Jersey. Ick.

well, we’re stuck in the support rasing department… we’ve been holding at 50% for about a month now, but i’m not too concerned about that. we’ve got the first 6 months taken care of, so we can still raise the other half down the stretch once we get there. we were expecting to have to do so anyways since we only had 2 months to raise 40k.

it’s been difficult to arrange time with people, but we haven’t had too many hurdles to overcome… for the most part it’s been rather smooth sailing. we have tons of letters out that have yet to be responded to (15 of 200), so we’re hoping that in the next few weeks some more support will start rolling in.

it’s amazing that we’re 50% of the way in with only 15 letters and 1 church. i think that bodes well for us… although, i could be wrong.

what are some tricks of the trade you’ve employed? so far for us it’s been writing letters and calling a couple of churches that we have had relationships with in the past…
