I agree that Ann Coulter is very extreme and I disagree with her an overwhelming majority of the time. However, the suggestion that she be arrested for what she said is also ridiculous. There's a reason we have free speech in the U.S. She's not calling for his assassination or even borderline doing it. She is trying to make a funny (it bombed bad) about her desire not to have to talk about him anymore.

You are taking this way too serious. If you value conversation in society than you should realize that freedom of speech and the press is important. You are, after all, bloggers. You obviously like to be able to say what you want to say.

I also applaud Scott for pointing out the context of the quotation.

i agree she has the right to say what she wants... but she's borderline calling for the guys assassination... that's illegal.

i wouldn't however agree that she is to the right what bill maher is to the left. bill maher actually isn't all that far to the left. i listen to him quite frequently and watch his show all the time (it's on hiatus for the summer) and he's not as liberal as coulter is conservative. he's liberal, that's for sure, but he's not a nut job. in fact, he's on record as saying he would vote for ron paul if he won the nomination! bill maher has more in common with jason and dada than they realize! ;)

I agree, she has the right to say what she wants according to the constitution. And Scott is right, as she was just responding to what far left nut job Bill Maher said about Cheney. Both sides are severe nut cases, but it doesnt stop the whackos like Michael Moore to make more crap movies that are so slanted to his opinions and views they have zero merit around the majority of the U.S.

Take both sides and ship them to Canada to live together in war I say!

that's a really good point! i guess that's what i get for watching a propaganda clip that's ripped out of context.

i love how politics stoop to such a level... and how we're all suckers for it!

Video clips do not always tell the whole story. I am not a Coulter fan. In fact, I think she is a pompous ass who could care less about conservative issues and just wants to sell books. But, in fairness, her comment as recorded on the video must be looked at in context. I watched the entire interview on GMA. She was commenting on how no one took Bill Maher to task when he made a comment that it was a shame that Dick Cheney didn't die during the terrorist plot to kill him in Afghanistan. She said she didn't understand how she got ripped so badly for associating the term "faggot" with John Edwards and that perhaps she would have gotten less criticism if she had just wished he had been killed by terrorists instead. You had to see the whole interview to get that and the 15 secod clip doesn't give that perspective. She also called President Bush a dimwit in the same interview.
