today when i arrived home from the office i noticed a package situated nicely on our doorstep. upon closer investigation i saw the amazon.com logo emblazoned on the side and my heart lept with joy… i love getting books in the mail, especially when i don’t order them!
i quickly brought it upstairs cut open the box and looked inside to see “Church Planting from the Ground Up” situated on the bottom of the box. this is one of the most highly recommended and touted books on church planting to come out in quite some time. i pulled the book from the box and looked at the receipt to read this little note: Aaron, from Dad. Love you!
this may, quite possibly be one of the best gifts and most meaningful gifts i have ever received. not because i got a book, but because of what this gift signifies… my parents are behind me encouraging me, helping to equip me and supporting this decision to attempt one of the riskiest and quite possibly hardest things ever: to start something out of nothing, to plant a church in one of the least churched cities in north america.
i’m not sure i could do this without their encouragement and support. i’m not sure that this would be as easy of a decision to undertake if they weren’t there behind me. how great it is to have parents like this, that love me and push me to continually pursue the Jesus mission no matter what the cost.
thanks mom & dad, i love you too!
