yesterday my best friend john mark and i made our way to the left field bleachers at wrigley field to take in the cardinals/cubs game. we got there a little early in order to watch some batting practice, bask in the glory of the bleachers and maybe, just maybe catch a ball. well, we certainly enjoyed batting practice, and we basked in the glory of the bleachers… and yes, oh yes, i even caught a ball!
i can’t tell you how exciting this is for me. i have been to countless baseball games and have never had a ball hit closer to me than a section away, but today was quite a different story. during the cardinals batting practice i snagged an albert pujols homerun ball and took another one off the finger tips (i’m still regaining some sensation in them as i type this). during the 12-3 blowout (GO CUBS) there were 5 homeruns that landed nearby, but unfortunately just out of reach. it was a great time watching the cubs play well despite their struggles as of late and despite the crazy, drunk, chick sitting next to us that apparently just turned 21 that day and felt the need to scream it every 5 minutes (it’s my birthday! i’m 21!)
well, i’ve reached my quota of baseball games for the year at wrigley field—one. and it was a beauty!

How was the piss trough? Imagine that, some bimbo turned 21 and went to Wrigley, did she even know what baseball was?
Just to be sure others know as well, in my emails to Mr Monts about his beloved Cubs, it has been reported that since 2003 they have outspent every single MLB team, including Yanks, Red Sox, Angels, etc, etc to the pace of $800+M in guaranteed monies and are a whopping 2 games under .500 to show for this “greatness”. No wonder you will never win anything.
I don’t know how people are rich enough to get smashed at Wrigley. I’m heading to St. Louis this weekend to catch the first game on Saturday between the Cubs/Cards. I’m looking forward to it. I hear the new stadium is a great place to watch a game. Although, it must really make guys like Jason mad that a dump like Wrigley (which it is) is still a better place to watch a game. Anyway, I’m comfortable with the Cubs fan stereotype. At least I’m not a fat woman sporting a mullet wearing an Earhardt hat (you know the one with the number three with angels wings inexplicably sprouting from it) and a Darryl Kile memorial t-shirt.
