the hermeneutics quiz

February 26th, 2008 § 10 comments

Scot McKnight wrote an article for the Leadership Journal called The Hermeneutics Quiz that describes a recent online quiz that evaluates your hermeneutical stance from conservative to progressive. It’s a short, 20 question quiz that might just surprise you with your results. (I know I was surprised!)

Take a gander, and let me know in the comments how you fared… that’s where I’ll reveal my results at some point.

51 on the conservative side by one point. 5 years ago I probably would have been 85+. I have definitely changed.

  • Eric says:

    45! Do I Win!?!?!?

  • Scott L says:

    58

  • Eric says:

My dad got a 52. I’m not sure how many people need to respond before Monts’ gives his away, so I’m trying to tip the scales.

  • monts says:

    75

i guess that makes me a progressive.

i was actually really surprised at the results of the quiz, so much so that i took it again and came out with the exact same score. so, i guess i’m “progressive” in my hermeneutics… 5 years ago i think it would’ve been quite a bit different… and even 2 years ago i think it would’ve been a lot different—but probably more towards the “dangerous 92″.

i appreciated mcknight’s grace and generosity in his article towards the progressives…

  • gentry13 says:

    65.

i thought some of the questions were poorly worded though and question the accuracy of the score.

  • monts says:

i would agree that some of the questions were poorly worded… as were the answers.

i can’t believe that i’m “more progressive” than gentry!

  • Eric says:

by the way, i hate the word progressive. ’cause it sounds so good, and i always want to end up as that one….and i never do.

    65 – edgy moderate?
