Thursday night at 11:30p on ABC, Nightline will be airing a debate that took place last week at Mars Hill Church in Seattle between Mark Driscoll and Annie Lobert versus Deepak Chopra and Carlton Pearson on the topic “Does Satan Exist”. The preview itself is certainly a tantalizing and interesting starting point for viewing. Be sure to TIVO/DVR the debate and watch it. We’ll talk about it more in depth later this week and the points raised by Driscoll, Lobert, Chopra and Pearson. Should be an interesting discussion!

Looks interesting. I probably (most certainly) won’t watch though. I’m not entirely sure why. I guess it’s mostly because I don’t really respect any of these people as an authority on the issue. (I do respect Driscoll – mostly – but I’m not sure if I want him leading the debate on the issue of the exitence of Satan.) I would be more apt to watch if they replaced the former stripper with Ravi Zacharias and Pearson with Richard Dawkins. This is entertainment TV attempting to be cleverly disguised as an intellectually rigorous debate. I’m not buying it.
I am in… Though I do agree with “rags” that an ex-stripper is not my idea of “authority” on the topic, I find that Dawkins and Zacharias would be better suited for a debate on origins or evolutionary theory as opposed to the real existence of Satan. Maybe all of this is just driven by my presupposed prejudice.
So what, Mark.. you’re going on national tv and you forget to shave?
